About Auburn University
The College of Veterinary Medicine is located on the edge of the Auburn University campus, in the east central Alabama community of Auburn-Opelika. Collaborations with individuals in other Veterinary College departments, on the main campus, and at the University of Alabama and Emory University Medical Schools are available and contribute to the success of Auburn’s clinical programs. Faculty members include specialists in internal medicine, oncology, dermatology, neurology, critical care, anesthesia, clinical pathology, radiology, radiation oncology and surgery. Onsite equipment includes MRI, CT, linear accelerator, hyperbaric oxygen chamber and CRRT unit. The veterinary hospital is a certified level 1 trauma center with 24-hour emergency/critical care capabilities. Specialty equipment for the medicine service includes cystourethroscope, endoscope (Fujinon Eve 400), and 2 dedicated ultrasound machine (Philips IE33 and Acuson P300 ). The hospital is equipped with a state-of-the art interventional suite. The hospital’s interventional team includes faculty from internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, and radiology services.

Auburn maintains high levels of research activity and high standards for teaching excellence, offering Bachelor’s, Master’s, Educational Specialist, and Doctor’s degrees in agriculture and engineering, and the arts and sciences. Its 2017 enrollment of 29,776 students includes 23,964 undergraduates and 5,812 graduate and professional students. Organized into twelve academic colleges and schools, Auburn’s 1,450 faculty members offer more than 200 educational programs. Auburn residents enjoy a thriving community, recognized as one of the “best small towns in America,” and one of the “top ten small towns in the South” with moderate climate and easy access to major cities or to beach and mountain recreational facilities. Situated along the rapidly developing I-85 corridor between Atlanta, Georgia, and Montgomery, Alabama, the combined Auburn-Opelika-Columbus statistical area has a population of over 500,000, with excellent public school systems and regional medical centers. Numerous cultural and recreational venues and idyllic escapes are within 1 hour of Auburn including Callaway Gardens, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and numerous shopping and dining experiences. Clement weather allows for extensive outdoor recreational opportunities including trails for walking or cycling, Lake Martin with its 600 miles of shoreline, Tuskegee National Forest and other State Parks, all within a short drive from downtown.
