Academic rank (Associate or Full Professor) and salary are negotiable. Requires a DVM or comparable degree with board certification in AVMA-approved specialty. Ph.D. in pathology, microbiology, or related discipline is preferred.
As Director of the VDL, the faculty member is responsible for management and supervision of all activities and facilities within the laboratory. Administrative duties comprise 50% of the position and include management of the laboratory’s organizational structure, budget, personnel, quality assurance program and physical plant and supervision of staff. The Director has oversight of all sections: molecular diagnostics, bacteriology, clinical pathology, histology, necropsy and virology. The Director interacts with the State Veterinarian and representatives of livestock producer groups and state and local veterinary medical associations in order to promote and optimize laboratory activities in Oregon. The Director reports to the Dean, College of Veterinary Medicine. The faculty member will also provide diagnostic services and participate in teaching and research with specific time allocation based on interests and needs.
