The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the national nonprofit association established in 1863 that represents more than 100,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia, and uniformed services, is seeking an Administrative Assistant/ECFVG Coordinator to join our Education and Research team, located at our Headquarters office in Schaumburg, Illinois – a northwest suburb of Chicago. The AVMA’s mission is to lead the profession by advocating for its members and advancing the science and practice of veterinary medicine to improve animal and human health.
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Administrative Assistant/ECFVG Coordinator will provide administrative support to the Assistant Director, the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) program, the Education and Research Division, and other governance entities as assigned. Additional responsibilities include (and are not limited to), processing ECFVG candidate applications and fees; maintaining candidate files and database records; and regularly communicating with ECFVG candidates and school’s administrative offices, while ensuring confidentiality and adherence to related policies and procedures.

High school diploma is required, bachelor’s degree is a plus
Minimum of 3-years of administrative office experience; association or educational institution experience is preferred
Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the Association and external contacts
Proficient with PC programs (specifically Microsoft Office and databases)
Self-motivated team player with good problem-solving skills
Ability to work overtime and after normal business hours occasionally; and travel on behalf of the Association, as needed
