Animal Kind Veterinary Hospital is a companion animal practice in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. We have been serving the community since Dr. Mark Gibson opened the doors in 1994, and have been an NVA practice since Sept 2017. We are currently a 3 full-time, 1 part-time doctor practice, and are looking to expand. Our clientele is eager and able to do what’s best for their pet, with a steady client base that will quickly be established with a new doctor. We have a highly skilled support staff of over 30, with 11 licensed or license-eligible technicians. Multiple doctors are Fear-free certified and our technicians and assistants are embracing that, as well as cat-friendly handling.
We are flexible with doctors’ schedules and want to work with you to ensure you have the work-life balance you desire. Multiple doctors are scheduled daily, with a dedicated assistant or technician per each doctor. We have 30-minute appointments, plus additional time for records and communications, blocks for urgent care appointments, and a specified wellness or recheck visit as the last appointment of the day.

About our team:
Our practice manager has been with Animal Kind for 15 years, our head technician for 20 years, and our head receptionist for 3 years. Besides Dr. Gibson, our doctors have been with the practice for between 2-17 years. We know how important it is to be part of a team working towards the same goal: to provide the best preventative, medical, surgical, and dental care possible to our patients, while supporting the well-being of all staff members. We like to have fun at work when we can. We enjoy celebrating the holidays with bowling parties and potlucks, and throwing in the occasional ugly sweater competition.
We utilize a boarded surgeon for orthopedic or complicated soft tissue procedures on a non-emergent basis, and a visiting cardiologist who can be scheduled for echocardiograms. We have great relationships with the local specialty/emergency clinics both utilizing and referring to the specialist consultation services available, and refer when indicated.
We have doctor rounds daily to discuss cases, and extended meetings monthly, lunch and learn seminars, sharing pearls from CE and webinars, and discussing goals, strategies and protocols for the practice and staff.
About the area:
The Park Slope neighborhood is a lovely area, within walking distance of Prospect Park and the F train, with a bus stop in front of the practice. Parking and transportation subsidies are available - but many of our vets have lived within walking/biking distance of the clinic. We have tree-lined streets with lots of great stores and eateries - lots of options for lunch orders!
