Director of Medicine- Sunset Animal Hospital
Are you a Critical Care veterinarian, Internal Medicine Specialist, or experienced Emergency Clinician? We are looking for someone with your vast clinical experience to shape the medical care at Sunset Animal Hospital. As the Director of Medicine, your focus will be on sharing your knowledge with the medical team through hands-on training and mentorship, didactic learning, educational rounds, and creating an advanced level of standard of care.
Located in the Rice University/Medical Center area of Houston, Sunset Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary animal hospital that is open 24/7 and offers routine and emergency veterinary services. We utilize the most innovative knowledge, equipment, and techniques available to care for pets and exceed expectations.
The Director of Medicine will provide medical, professional, ethical, and cultural leadership at Sunset Animal Hospital. They will provide overall training, supervision, organization, direction, and evaluation of the medical team.
Responsibilities:
Fosters strong working relationships between individuals and teams for the benefit of the hospital.
Inspires excellence, helping create and attain a shared vision for the delivery of medicine in the hospital.
Leads the medical team in aligning clinicians with the practice goals and cultural initiatives.
Exemplifies and leads our organizational culture that values all clinicians as collaborative members of a health care team.
Mentors associate veterinarians to improve their clinical and professional skills.
Develops, approves, and supports our standards of care.
Oversees veterinarians' procedures, performance, and ethics.
Directs veterinary recruiting, orientation, training, and development.
Directs medical policy development, implementation, and documentation.
Approves new medication and product requests.
Maintains awareness of daily operations and provides input for problem resolution.
Develops and promotes a team approach towards problem solving.
Prioritizes personal development including growth in medical practice, communication, conflict resolution, and personal discovery.
Creates a system for evaluating the associate veterinarians that assesses core competencies, team integration, and client satisfaction.
Participates in the hospital’s success by collaborating with the local hospital’s and Suveto’s leadership team.
Clinical responsibilities: Management of patients in the clinical setting is not a regularly scheduled responsibility and is appropriate only as desired by the Director to maintain clinical relevance and as an oversight role in training or program development. Clinical duties cannot supersede or interfere with defined Director role responsibilities.

Requirements:
TX State Licensed to Practice Veterinary Medicine
Diplomate in good standing from applicable specialty college (preferred)
