The Police Department’s Animal Care and Adoption Center provides veterinary care to animals impounded in the shelter.  Approximately 5000-6000 animals are impounded annually.   The Veterinarian is supported by a full-time Veterinary Technician and two veterinary assistants.  As a team, approximately 2000 spay or neuter surgeries are performed annually as well as providing other preventative and critical animal care.
